This is it, ladies, gentleman, and all you fine non-binary folks who frequent these parts: The end of my Oktober fest season. While it's been an absolute joy (I've found a few new autumnal mainstays for my fridge), I can't say I'm too terribly sorry to see it go--Spooky Finger Puppet Ghost Month starts up in just a few days.


But (!) that's not to say it's all over yet. See, this month I've been saving what I presume will be one of the best for last. Fat Head's has a track record for me that's pretty unbelievable: Of the three beers of theirs I've sampled for the blog, two received perfect scores ("perfect" on the blog, if you don't know [which you might not because I don't think I've ever explicitly stated it?] means it gets my absolute highest recommendation, and that it's an amazing brew. "Perfect" doesn't actually exist) while the third got a 9.0/10. So, you might see why I'm excited to break into my bottle of G'Suffa! Let's not waste too much more time.

This is it, everyone. We're exactly one week out from the big day. My tree's been up and decorated since the end of November. Yesterday we were at Michelle's parents', helping them trim theirs (they're lucky enough to have a real tree). I'm done shopping for all my people but two. I don't have much longer to get everything else I need together--wish me luck!


But, even though I have that yuletide deadline hanging over my head, I still have to take time to enjoy my final three beers of the season. Today's beer should be a surprise for those of you that follow me on Instagram; it wasn't included in my Christmas beer preview post, simply because I didn't have it at the time nor did I know if I'd find any. But, luck was on my side. Today, I'm drinking Fat Head's' Pimp My Sleigh.

In three days it will be Halloween! Unfortunately, I'll be working that night so I won't be able to fully get my spook on. The good news is that I still have two more Spooky Beers of the Season to get through so I won't be too down in the dumps on Tuesday.

Well, folks, Cincinnati's finally been hit by winter. Temperatures have been dropping. Snow's been falling occasionally. And I have that burning in my throat when I walk to work, which signifies that we're finally done with warm weather. Great.


At least I still have good Christmas beers to keep me company and stave off the cold. I also have cats, blankets, and a fiancée for that, too, but this post's about beer, dammit, so I'd like to keep it beer-centric. And the beer at the center of this beer-centric post is Fat Head's Holly Jolly.

Yesterday was the last official day of Ohio Brew Week 2015. I spent four glorious days in Athens for it before driving back to Cincinnati in order to be at work on Friday. Life continues while you're away, right?

Anyway, day four started at Devil's Kettle for their Wednesday Hops School offering. This time they had dry-hopped Spider Silk with summit hops, which gave the blonde ale a strong berry flavor. I visited DK three days in a row and I'm anxiously awaiting the chance to get back there.
