10/30/21: A Pre-Halloween Update

8:56 AM

Happy Saturday, everyone! Spooky season's drawing to its dreadful close, and I want to take a moment to talk about the blog for the next month. This isn't your typical post (it's a no-beer one), so I won't take offense if you just skip right by it.

Since there's no beer here, take this pic of Henrietta as an offering.

Before we get into what you can expect in November, let's take a quick moment to touch on tomorrow's Halloween post: My most recent review, in which I drank Warped Wing's 2019 BBA Flying Heads, was the hokey one I'm giving myself this season (if you didn't read it in Vincent Price's voice, you should really revisit it and do so).

This means that tomorrow's post will be written in my standard voice. Just John. That's because I'm discussing two cans of the same beer and I want to do so as plainly and sensibly as possible. So, if you want spooky, see the last post. If you want a no-frills pumpkin-ish beer Halloween post, see tomorrow's PumpCAN post.

Now, let's talk about November. This'll be the blog's Third Annual Maple Month. I've amassed nine maple beers (okay, one's a cider) to feature. Usually, this wouldn't be too challenging of a feat. But, once you factor in the that the blog's Christmas season begins on 11/26 (Black Friday) and that I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the fourth consecutive time (a challenge where I write 50,000 words of a story in a month) you'll quickly realize that, well, that's actually not so much time.

I'll get to all those beers (and that one cider) because, damn, I love maple beer. I might even feature one or two that I haven't accounted for. But, due to the creative and time constraints of NaNo, there'll probably be one bit of fallout that impacts the blog: The timeframe in which my posts go live.

Typically, I like to get my posts up no later than 7 pm EST. Beyond this, according to my analytics, my posts don't reach as many people. But, for November, posts'll probably go up between 8 and 10 pm. This may not have any meaning to you, especially if you're the kind of person who reads my blog once a week (yeah, I see you)--you'll experience no interrupted service.

Are you the kind of person who reads my posts as they go live (I see you, too)? If so, you might have to bear with me for the next few weeks.

It's been a wild year so far, with a definitive end in sight. I hope you've enjoyed what I've written in 2021 and have tried out a featured beer or four. I'll see you again at the end of the year for another housekeeping post. Until then, sit tight and enjoy the ride.
